Great Pause Project is an open-source repository of images and written reflections of the COVID-19 global pandemic to record this historic global event. Hundreds of submissions were collected from around the world from 2020 – 2021. Selected quotes and photographs were compiled to be included in the Lunar Library II with Arch Mission Foundation. Such contents were etched onto nickel-based Nanofiche, a new technology that is resilient in spacefaring environments. Each letter is the size of a bacillus bacterium, and can be read with a 1000X optical microscope. At 600 dpi, 150,000 photos or pages of text can fit on a single 8.5”x11” sheet of Nanofiche, making it by far, the highest density analog storage media in the world today. The Lunar Library II will fly to the Moon in 2022 as an archive for future citizens to discover.
